1. Introduction and Commitment

Power in UA is a charitable foundation committed to promoting equality, fairness, and respect for all individuals regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, or background. We recognize that gender equality is not only a fundamental human right but also a critical factor in ensuring effective humanitarian, social, and development work.

This Gender Equality Plan (GEP) reflects our commitment to creating and maintaining an inclusive, safe, and supportive environment for our staff, volunteers, partners, and communities we serve. It is publicly available on our website and has been approved and signed by the Director of Power in UA.

2. Governance and Resources

– Dedicated Responsibility: The Director of Power in UA will act as Gender Equality Officer, supported by an internal focal point to ensure implementation and monitoring of this plan. – Resources: Time and administrative resources will be allocated for gender equality activities, including reporting and awareness initiatives.

3. Data Collection and Monitoring

– Power in UA will collect and review gender‐disaggregated data annually for all staff, volunteers, and leadership roles.
– An annual internal report will summarize gender balance and any measures taken to improve representation or address identified gaps.

4. Training and Awareness

– Power in UA will provide annual awareness sessions or online learning resources for staff, volunteers, and decision‐makers on:

• Gender equality principles • Unconscious gender bias
• Harassment prevention

– New staff and volunteers will receive information about our Gender Equality Plan during onboarding.

5. Areas of Action

Work‐Life Balance and Organisational Culture
– We promote flexible working arrangements and family‐friendly policies for staff and volunteers.

Gender Balance in Leadership and Decision‐Making
– Power in UA strives for balanced gender representation in leadership roles, boards, and committees.

Gender Equality in Recruitment and Career Progression
– All recruitment and promotion processes will remain transparent, merit‐based, and free from gender bias.

Integration of Gender Dimension into Activities and Projects
– When planning humanitarian, educational, or infrastructure projects, we will assess gender impact and ensure equal access to benefits for women and men.

Measures Against Gender‐Based Violence and Harassment
– Power in UA maintains a zero‐tolerance policy for gender‐based violence, discrimination, or harassment.
– Complaints will be addressed promptly and confidentially.

6. Monitoring and Review

– The Gender Equality Officer will review and update this plan every two years.
– Progress and updates will be included in Power in UA’s annual organisational review and reported to the Board.
